SUMMARY:Here Comes Gudong
DESCRIPTION:About the show: \nHere Comes Gudong\nA Myth-Shattering Family Adventure \nHot off its 2025 Keep It Fringe award\, Roarrr Theatre debuts its fantastical\, cross-cultural adventure Here Comes Gudong! for children aged 4–12\, and curious grown-ups too. You are invited to join an eccentric crew of mythic animal explorers——as they follow the curious “Gudong!” rumble across lands and legends. What they discover is as surprising as it is delightful. \nThis is not your average children’s show. SUMMARY:Tango in Silk
DESCRIPTION:Tango in Silk is an evocative original ballroom duet by acclaimed Chinese dancer and choreographer Xi Liu\, premiering at Camden Fringe and Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer. A deeply personal exploration of identity\, migration\, and transformation\, the piece fuses the sharp sensuality of Argentine tango with the lyrical elegance of 1930s Shanghai aesthetics. \nSet to a dynamic\, emotionally textured soundtrack\, Tango in Silk follows the journey of an East Asian woman newly arrived in the UK. Her dance begins with quiet uncertainty — hesitant gestures\, reserved steps — and gradually builds into confident\, grounded movement. The choreography embodies moments of cultural friction\, resistance\, and ultimately\, empowerment. In a striking finale\, the character’s physicality fuses the bold rhythm of tango with the softness and dignity of traditional Chinese grace\, symbolized by her dramatic qipao (cheongsam) costume. \nPerformed by Xi Liu\, the piece is both visually arresting and emotionally layered\, offering audiences a poetic narrative of belonging and becoming. Each attendee will also receive a small gift — a traditional Chinese fan — as a gesture of cultural appreciation and connection. \nPhoto Credit: Wan & Kelly Lin\nPoster Designer: Qiqi Zhang \nhttps://www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/tango-in-silk

SUMMARY:Invisible Space
DESCRIPTION:About the show \nInvisible Space is an immersive headphone theatre experience using silent disco technology\, adapted from the classic Chinese mythological tale The Legend of the White Snake. This timeless story follows Bai Suzhen\, a snake spirit who reincarnates across lifetimes in search of her lost love\, Xu Xian. \nBlending ancient mythology with innovative theatrical forms\, Awful Shoes Collective creates an audience-engaging performance where spectators are not just passive viewers but active participants in the unfolding experience. Seated in a yin-yang-inspired circular formation around the performer\, they wear wireless headphones that immerse them in a rich soundscape of voices\, music\, and movement. This setup fosters a deep sense of connection\, as spectators become part of the theatrical ritual\, influencing its rhythm and atmosphere through their presence and reactions. \nIt’s an unprecedented space in which you will be connected with people you know or might meet for the first time. In this intimate and interactive environment\, relationships are redefined\, and mythology is brought to life through collective experience. \nShow Date: 2\,3\,8\,9 August 2025 at 11:40 \nVenue: Just the Tonic at the Caves \nhttps://www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/invisible-space \nAbout the Company \nAwful Shoes Collective is an independent experimental theatre company founded in 2024\, based in both London and China. Created by Asian artists from diverse backgrounds—including theatre\, fine art\, design\, and scenography—we celebrate diversity and are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of storytelling beyond text. Our work explores sensory\, physical\, and immersive experiences\, inviting audiences to become active participants in the creative process. \nOur headphone theatre performance Invisible Space premiered as a work-in-progress at Theatre Deli’s Shift+Space\, a unique program where artists present their work\, integrate audience feedback within 24 hours\, and perform an evolved version the following evening. Later\, the piece was showcased at The 2nd Shanghai International Urban Xinzhuang Fringeville\, where it was honoured with the Best Experimental Theatre Award. \nThrough our work\, we continue to experiment with innovative ways of engaging audiences\, blurring the lines between performer and spectator\, and creating theatre that is dynamic\, interactive\, and ever-evolving.

SUMMARY:Bond - Age
DESCRIPTION:About the show: \nStarting from the idea of bondage as a metaphor\, the piece of physical theatre ‘Bond·Age’ explores pain and pleasure\, bonds and restrictions in relationships\, not only between lovers\, but also between family members\, between an individual and his/her home country or the society\, between one and his/her self or gender role\, etc. Are we tied down to/by anything or anyone? Would it be better to be tied down\, or to be completely free? “We are bound to play”\, characterized by multi-genre dance and original music\, the play is bound to be sensuous\, symbolic and experimental. \nDate and Time: August 1-8\, 20:50-21:30 \nAbout the Team: ZHU Wenjun\,  Stephan Fraser \nhttps://www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/bond-age
