About the Show
“Formosa Viva” Dance Theatre narrates Taiwan’s 500-year history, spotlighting key historical events through 12 selected musical pieces. From indigenous cultures to Dutch, Ming, Qing, and Japanese influences, and the Republic of China’s governance post-1949, it highlights the transition from martial law to democracy. The performance emphasizes recent advances in gender equality and cultural diversity. This dynamic presentation vividly brings to life Taiwan’s rich cultural evolution for the audience, showcasing its significant milestones and transformations over the centuries.

About the Company
The Graduate Institute of Performing Arts at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNUGIPA) is Taiwan’s only institute dedicated to producing original musicals. Over the past 20 years since its establishment, it has created over 100 musicals, dance theater productions, and various dramatic works. Since 2009, NTNUGIPA has participated in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe every summer and expanded to the Adelaide Fringe and Off-Avignon Festival starting in 2022. Over two decades, it has nurtured talent in international performance and agency work, bringing outstanding Taiwanese productions to the global stage while also introducing exceptional international performances to Taiwan. It is a renowned international university brand from Taiwan.
